Meet Inky, Blinky, Sue, and the other one

If you’ve been by the shop recently, you may have noticed a couple of additions to the sales floor. Namely, one of these:

And a companion, very similar, but not as easily recognizable. As many of you are aware, most of us management and staff went to a trade show last month. We came back with some really awesome ideas, my personal favorite being these little beauties. Now, don’t get me wrong, these aren’t new. They are original, classic arcade games, with some original, classic “character” they’ve acquired along the way. But the appeal is tremendous. I can’t walk by them without the change in my pocket trembling in nervous anticipation of shooting little spaceships or scarfing dots.
In a generation ruled by antisocial activities such as computer and consol gaming, most younger kids have never felt the sheer pulse of joy that comes from yelling at your buddy as he maneuvers a little yellow dot with a bow on its head around those pesky ghosts. The smoke filled, musty arcades that we remember are a dying breed, and probably won’t be back. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t celebrate the feeling that we got back when we were 8 and had a pocket full of quarters shared with all our friends, carefully measured to ensure equal playing time amongst all the games.
So, this weekend, when you’re at the shop to play your favorite card game, or when you’re picking up your comic file, or even if you just wanted to stop in to say hi, at least walk over to them. Touch the joystick, press a button. Close your eyes and remember when cut scenes were entitled “They Meet” or “The Chase”.
Bet you won’t be able to resist pulling out that quarter, just for old time’s sake.

Also bet you can’t beat my high score on “Moon Alien” :)

It's Wednesday, and that means new books! Heres what you'll want to check out this week.
First up is Mighty Avengers #14. Where has Nick Fury been and who are the new Howling Commandos? Ah, the skrully goodness! Next we'll take a look at X-Men Divided We Stand #2. Exploring the fallout of Messiah Complex, the second part of this collection of short stories follows some of our favorite mutants as they make their way in a world without the X-Men. And only those who adapt will survive. Featuring Beast, Dark Beast, Havok, Vulcan and Surge! Follow your favorite muties through this tumultous time!
Now we'll take a look at the Crisis-bound DCU! First up is Justice League of America #21. Meet Libra and the Human Flame, two central villains in the upcoming Final Crisis! Where'd the Human Flame come from, and who does he hate more than anything in the universe? As Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman assess the future of the Justice League, their days may be numbered. Don't miss the lead-up to the biggest event this year! Next, check out Tangent Superman's Reign #3. Ever since the Tangent Superman rebuilt the world's power structure, the super-secret agency known as Nightwing has been biding their time, waiting to strike back. Now that the DCU's Green Lantern and Flash have joined the Tangent Green Lantern and Flash, the stage has been set for Nightwing's return!
Lastly, everyone has a "shame list" when it comes to comics. You know, those books that EVERYONE loves, the groundbreakers, the innovators, but you just haven't read them yet? Well, Image is helping you cross one off the list this week! In celebration of their 50th issue comes Walking Dead #1 Special Edition. Image Comics presents a special reprint edition the first issue of this spectacular series. Complete with the full script, original series proposal and a pile of other bonus features. And with the trades readily available, this is a great jumping off point for this awesome book!
